Lake Jefferson Real Estate: East (Big), Middle, and West (Little)Lake Jefferson: East (Big), Middle, and West (Little)Why not jump on the lakeshore living bandwagon and purchase your own piece of lakefront property along the shores of one of southern Minnesota's lakes? If you're thinking about settling down on one of the Mankato area lakes (and many people do), consider Lake Jefferson as one of your choices. Lake Jefferson, situated in the southern part of Minnesota's Le Sueur County, is actually three separate lakes in one: East (or Big) Jefferson, Middle Jefferson, and West (or Little) Jefferson. East Jefferson Lake, as you might suspect, is the most eastern of the three Jefferson Chain of Lakes and is also the largest, taking up 700 acres. Over to the west is West, or Little, Jefferson, the smallest of the three lakes, spanning just a little more than 440 acres. Middle Jefferson is right in the middle of the two other Jefferson lakes, and although only slightly smaller than Big Jefferson at close to 650 acres, is a fairly shallow lake. All three lakes provide excellent fishing opportunities (Jefferson is particularly famed for its catches of panfish and bullheads) as well as a wide variety of aquatic recreation. Regardless of what you prefer and what you're into when out at the lake, you'll find plenty to both see and do by choosing lakefront real estate along Lake Jefferson's shores, whether you're looking for an additional property for a summer home, or a permanent, year-round residence, which is becoming more and more popular.
